| Title of the research | Creation and evaluation of climate change scenarios through dynamic downscaling |
| Description | The activities will be carried out in the framework of the Relevant National Project (PRIN) 2022 “An integrated modelling approach for mitigating climate CHANge effects through enhanCEd weathering in Southern Italy” (CHANCES), whose objective is the evaluation of Enanched Weathering (EW) techniques to improve CO2 sequestration in climate change scenarios. CHANCES will use scenarios provided by GCM from the CMIP6 project. Forecasts will be dynamically downscaled through NWP. The main forecast output will be bias- corrected, if needed, to provide reliable climate conditions for Southern Italy. With a view to an interdisciplinary approach (from hydrology to atmospheric physics and computer science), the main tasks of the selected candidate will be: running simulations through physical models (WRF – Weather Research and Forecasting), evaluating the forecast outputs (rainfall and air temperature) and possible bias-correction. |
| Qualification required for applying | Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering (Class LM35 in the Italian classification system), Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (LM23), Master’s degree in Physics (LM 27), Master’s degree in Computer Engineering (LM 32), Master’s degree in Computer Science (LM 18) or equivalent |
